Candace Owens Blasts Trump for Not Defending Her in Brigitte Macron Lawsuit: ‘That’s a Pretty Loud Silence’

Conservative commentator Candace Owens is calling out President Donald Trump and his administration for what she describes as a complete failure to defend her First Amendment rights amid an unprecedented lawsuit from France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron.

On her show last week, Owens blasted the administration for staying silent while French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife pursue legal action against her for repeatedly claiming Brigitte Macron was born male.

“The more I think about it, the more absurd it is,” Owens said on her show on YouTube, pointing to the administration’s early promises to champion free speech.

“They pretended to care about free speech… then you have a literal European leader basically saying ‘F you’ to the American Constitution… and both JD Vance and Trump have not issued a statement.”

Owens compared the Macron lawsuit to a direct assault on U.S. constitutional protections, saying the federal government’s job is to protect Americans from “foreign invaders”, a term she applied to the French president in this context.

“The job of the federal government is to defend us against foreign invaders. And I would pretty much say Emmanuel Macron right now is being a foreign invader. But no, they’re silent. They are silent. And that’s a pretty loud silence right now,” she said.

She continued:

“What’s crazy. Is that Trump has been silent on this matter… especially after Emmanuel Macron flew and tried to get Trump to shut me up.”

Owens accused the administration of selectively defending speech rights, arguing they’ve responded swiftly to far smaller controversies while ignoring what she views as a serious international attack on American free expression.
