The saga of Cardi B and Offset’s rocky relationship has taken a mature turn as the Migos rapper files legal documents seeking joint custody of their three children, Kulture, 6, Wave, 3, and a 5-month-old daughter whose name has not been shared publicly, amid their ongoing divorce.
In a surprising move emphasizing unity over animosity, Offset proposed that Cardi’s home remain the kids’ primary residence while asking the court to formalize each parent’s financial responsibilities through child support guidelines. Here’s the latest on their split:
TMZ has reported that the Migos rapper appears to be looking to sidestep a complicated divorce, as he is also asking the court to distribute their marital assets and for both Set and Cardi to cover their own legal expenses.
The couple, who married in 2017, have encountered various challenges since Cardi initiated divorce proceedings. After five years of marriage, the 31-year-old rapper filed for divorce in August 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. The split followed years of public turbulence, including Offset’s infidelity scandals and brief separations (remember the 2019 Instagram breakup video?). Still, the pair reunited multiple times, even welcoming Wave in 2021.
Just a few days after the “I Like It” artist stated that she and Offset—who also has three older children from previous relationships—were in a “peaceful” situation and practicing “really healthy co-parenting” in December, he appeared to criticize her in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that has since been removed.
Cardi B responded with new accusations against Offset and his mother, Latabia Woodward, who allegedly stole from her. Although the Love and Hip Hop star did not specify what she believed she had lost, she claimed that Offset was utilizing their children as a reason to postpone the finalization of their divorce.
“You wanna talk about, you haven’t accepted the divorce because you not gonna agree on my terms ’cause you just wanna see the kids,” she continued. “You wanna see the kids? You just called your daughter for the first time this year, yesterday. Your newborn. You love your kids so much and you didn’t bought them s–t for Christmas.”
It seems both have moved on and are ready to permanently end ties, as Cardi B has been spending time with NFL star Stefon Diggs, while Offset has been out and about with a few models.
