Cardi B’s past act of helping a single mother seems to be a concocted story, according to social media users.
Over the weekend, a post surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that Cardi B had performed a generous act for a single Black mother. The story, allegedly found under a YouTube video, detailed how Cardi noticed a struggling hotel worker who had brought her child to work and then left a substantial tip after learning about her situation. A touching tale, right? But the kicker is that the “woman” who wrote the comment doesn’t actually exist.
The post originated from a newly created account named “Shaniqua Jenkins,” leading many to question its authenticity. Online detectives quickly pointed out that the account had just been made, boasted no prior activity, and appeared carefully crafted to impersonate a Black woman. Everything from the chosen name to the phrasing felt premeditated, raising suspicions about its genuineness. Many users think it’s part of a calculated PR effort to portray Cardi in a more compassionate and community-oriented light.
“It’s giving fake empathy,” one user commented on X. “They really thought naming the account Shaniqua Jenkins would make us believe it’s real. Please.” Others noted that this uplifting narrative coincided with resurfaced footage of Cardi using derogatory language toward Black women, including old disputes where she referred to women as “roaches” and a recording where she harshly told her Black husband to “go back to Africa” during a heated argument.

For many individuals, the sudden emergence of the “good Samaritan” story felt like a strategic image overhaul. “They’re trying to rewrite history,” remarked another fan. “Cardi’s PR team knows her relationship with the Black community has been dicey since the Nicki feud, and this is their way of trying to mend that.”

Here’s what the supposed Shaniqua Jenkins post shared that sparked the discussion: “In 2018, Cardi B checked into a hotel where I worked and noticed my child sitting behind the front desk. I was scared I might get in trouble or lose my job. Instead, she smiled warmly and shared how she used to hide at her mom’s job too. When she checked out, she left coloring books, snacks, and a huge tip. Her kindness reminded me that even in tough times, we’re seen and valued.”

Heartwarming? Certainly. But credible? That’s where the online opinions diverge. While some fans argue that Cardi could indeed have performed this kind act, given her history of generosity toward fans, others claim that the timing and the almost too-perfect narrative suggest it’s a calculated maneuver amid a crisis.

As of now, nobody from Cardi’s team has confirmed or denied the authenticity of the post.
