Cardi B’s sophomore album, ‘Am I The Drama?’, isn’t even out yet (September 19, mark your calendars!), and it’s already 2x platinum.

Seven years after her record-breaking debut, Invasion of Privacy, Cardi’s back, bolder, and apparently already platinum.

Yes, you read that right. Am I The Drama? is already certified 2X platinum, and it hasn’t even hit streaming platforms yet.

How is that even possible? It’s all thanks to the massive success of singles like “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion and “Up,” which have been confirmed to appear on the 23-track album. “WAP” was the cultural moment of 2020; love it or hate it, you definitely couldn’t escape it. Meanwhile, “Up” climbed the charts and sat comfortably in platinum territory.

With these tracks included, ‘Am I The Drama?’ qualifies for multi-platinum certification before its full release, a rare feat in today’s streaming landscape.

Cardi made the announcement official on June 23 with a post that included the moody cover art and a dark, theatrical teaser video featuring crows, ominous music, and a chilling monologue:

“Seven years of love, light, and loss… I gave them grace. Now I give them hell… I’m not your villain. I’m your karma.”

Fans immediately lit up social media, with #AmITheDrama trending across platforms. Many called it the comeback of the year. Some joked that the teaser gave Marvel villain energy.

In true Cardi fashion, she didn’t hold back when fans questioned why the album took so long. Back in May 2025, she hopped on Instagram Live and revealed the delay was partially due to featured artists not sending in their verses.

Beyond ‘WAP’ and ‘Up,’ Cardi says this album is deeply personal. It’s been seven years since her debut. Years filled with Grammy wins, motherhood, marriage, heartbreak, and internet chaos. ‘Am I The Drama?’ promises to be more than just bangers and bars; it’s Cardi unpacking growth, grief, and grit in her own unfiltered voice.

We already got a taste of “Outside,” her latest single, released on June 19.

Cardi B hasn’t directly explained the album’s title, but let’s be honest, she doesn’t need to. Her public life has unfolded in real-time on the blogs, from her headline-making relationship with Offset to her frequent clashes with fans and the media. The title feels like a self-aware wink, a play on the viral meme, and a bold statement that leans into her unbothered persona.

She is the drama — and she’s owning it.
