Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) Cheerleaders have sealed a significant three-year partnership with the renowned global hair care brand, Mielle Organics.

This $250,000 collaboration encompasses a range of elements such as product sampling, activations, and social media campaigns. Furthermore, the partnership designates the FAMU cheer team as official brand ambassadors for Mielle Organics.

Omar Goff, a 2004 School of Business and Industry (SBI) graduate and the president of Mielle Organics, played a pivotal role in establishing this mutually beneficial alliance.

Reflecting on his time at FAMU, Goff expressed his delight in giving back to the university, stating:

“We started the HBCU partnership journey at Howard University with the queens of the pool, and now we are here to partner with the queens of cheer.”

According to FAMU, Brandi Tatum-Fedrick, head coach of the FAMU Cheerleaders and assistant vice president of Annual and Affinity Giving, also played a crucial role in orchestrating this partnership.

Tatum-Fedrick expressed her enthusiasm for Omar Goff’s commitment to his alma mater, stating:

“We are super excited for Omar Goff’s commitment to his alma mater. In my 18 years of coaching, this is our first partnership, so I am excited for many more to come.”

Notably, this collaboration marks the FAMU Cheer team’s first partnership with a hair care brand. The announcement of this significant partnership was met with surprise and excitement from the cheerleaders during a Thursday afternoon announcement attended by Mielle Organics’ CEO and COO, Melvin and Monique Rodriguez.

The cheerleaders believe that this collaboration with Mielle Organics will bring about a positive transformation, allowing them to embrace their natural hair confidently. Ashlyn Boles, FAMU cheer co-captain, expressed:

“This brand is going to evolve FAMU Cheer. It will allow us to step out of our comfort zone to say I can wear my natural hair, and I can rock my natural hair and look good while doing it.”

Mielle Organics, now a division of P&G Beauty, continues to stand as the fastest-growing Black-owned and founded natural hair care brand globally.
