Viral “Christian BBL” creator Sophia Idahosa is opening up about a health complication following her plastic surgery, revealing she developed an abdominal infection after the procedure and addressing the controversy surrounding the term she popularized online.

Sophia Idahosa, a Texas-based content creator known online as Sophiology, first gained attention after sharing that she underwent Lipo 360 and a fat transfer to her hips in December 2023. After documenting her decision publicly, she faced criticism from some of her Christian followers and members of her Nigerian family. In response, she began referring to her procedure as a “Christian BBL,” a phrase that quickly went viral and sparked debate across social media.

The backlash intensified as some critics took issue with the use of religious language in connection with cosmetic surgery. Sophiology later explained that the phrase was meant to respond directly to those critiques and draw attention to the conversation surrounding her decision.

In a recent YouTube vlog, Sophiology shared an update on her recovery, revealing that she experienced unexpected complications. She said a dermatologist discovered an infection on her abdomen, which left her feeling weak and slowed her healing process. According to Sophiology, the condition required antibiotics and topical treatments, along with rest, as part of her recovery plan.

She also explained that the infection was linked to her use of a faja, a compression garment typically worn after surgery to reduce swelling and support healing. Idahosa said the garment had been worn improperly, which contributed to the complication.

As a result of the infection, she postponed follow-up appointments with her surgeon as well as scheduled post-operative massages. Despite the setback, she said she was relieved to have received medical treatment and expressed hope that her condition would improve.

Alongside her health update, Sophiology addressed the ongoing reaction to the phrase “Christian BBL.” She acknowledged that she anticipated controversy when she first used the term, but clarified that it was not intended to mock religion.

“It was never my intention to make fun of God in any way,” she said, explaining that the phrase was a response to criticism rather than a reflection of her beliefs.
