However, podcaster and Trump supporter Rob Smith, who initially reposted the video, quickly clarified the clip’s origins. According to Smith, the video is from 2019, and Nicki has not endorsed Trump in any way.
“OK. UPDATE: Apparently, this is from 2019, from when Trump was President for the first time. Sorry for the Fake News! Let’s keep hope alive for next time!” Smith said on the X, formerly Twitter.
The video sparked several reactions on X, despite Smith confirming that the clip does not come from the 2024 cycle.
To set the record straight, Nicki Minaj previously publicly criticized Trump, particularly his administration’s immigration policies. As a non-US citizen, Nicki does not vote in American elections, so her endorsing a candidate seems unlikely. Back in 2018, she spoke out against Trump’s harsh immigration policies.
Nicki’s views on immigration are understandably personal, given that she is the daughter of Caribbean immigrants. Trump’s stringent immigration policies were an issue on which she stood firm, making it unlikely that she would support his platform.
