From Foster Care to Founder: How Jerricha Hoskins Built a $2M Hair Care Empire

by Gee NY

Jerricha Hoskins’ journey from foster care and homelessness to launching a thriving $2 million hair care business is a heartwarming entrepreneurship success story.

The cosmetologist, who once struggled to find products that worked for her own hair, is now the founder of Arcani Coil Care, a line featuring vegan-based temporary hair colors, kids’ mousse, and men’s beard care kits.

Hoskins’ story is rooted in adversity. Placed in foster care at 15 after her mother left her at a youth services organization, she became homeless three years later while pregnant with her first child.

“I was left to care for my son alone,” she recalls. “At that time, I could never have imagined this life.”

Motivated by her own experiences, Hoskins launched her line, creating products that catered to hair types often neglected by mainstream brands.

Within just over two years, she scaled Arcani Coil Care into a multimillion-dollar business, shipping products from Dayton to Canada, the Caribbean, Zambia, and across the United States, with Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago as key markets.

Her team reflects her commitment to giving back: most employees are single mothers or former foster youth, offering mentorship and opportunity to those navigating challenges similar to those she once faced.

“I’m passionate about working with at-risk youth,” Hoskins says. “If I had seen something like this when I was younger, it would have given me the extra push I needed.”

Hoskins’ journey echoes the legacy of Madam C.J. Walker, America’s first self-made Black female millionaire.

Today, she is not only building a successful brand but also creating pathways for the next generation of entrepreneurs.
