In a landmark moment for the legal community, the Miami Dade Bar Association, the largest lawyer network in Miami-Dade County, has elected Attorney Charise Morgan as its first Black woman president.

This historic election marks a significant milestone in the association’s 108-year history.

Charise Morgan, a distinguished attorney with a passion for service, is the newly elected president of the Miami Dade Bar Association.

Morgan, a Mercer University School of Law graduate, currently serves as staff legal counsel for Zurich North America.

Morgan expressed her pride in this achievement, highlighting the importance of representation.:

“It’s an opportunity for the bar to reflect the diversity of the community that is Miami-Dade County,” she said in a CBS News interview.

Driven by a desire to help others, Morgan’s journey into law was fueled by witnessing the need for basic legal services in her community.

“The idea of being an attorney is one that came from wanting to help people,” Morgan shared.

Her commitment to service and justice underpins her work, and she emphasizes the duty lawyers have to their communities.

As she steps into her new role, Morgan hopes to inspire others in the legal profession to recognize their responsibility to give back.

“I hope people are reminded of the significance of service,” she said. “You aren’t simply put here as a lawyer to go to work and go home. You have an obligation to help people, to leave the world better, to leave every space better than when you came.”

Morgan’s election is not just a personal achievement but a pivotal moment for the Miami Dade Bar Association, symbolizing progress and the embrace of diversity in leadership.

Her presidency is expected to bring fresh perspectives and a renewed focus on community service, aligning with the association’s mission to serve the legal community and the public.
