Actress and singer Keke Palmer has achieved a minor victory in her ongoing legal dispute with her baby’s father, Darius Jackson.
The legal saga began in November 2023 when Palmer was granted a temporary restraining order and temporary sole custody of their baby boy, citing allegations of physical and verbal abuse throughout their two-year relationship.
Originally scheduled to return to court on December 5 to determine the permanency of the restraining order, the hearing was postponed with hopes of resolving through mediation, according to a report by TheJasmineBrand.
In a joint filing, the former couple expressed their intention to participate in mediation to address their issues.
The court documents stated:
“[The parties] are concurrently filing a Stipulation and Order to continue The Court’s Order to Participate in Mediation currently set for November 29, 2023, and Petitioner’s Request for Domestic Violence Restraining Order, which is currently set for December 5, 2023, to allow the parties time to attend mediation.”
Although the couple was expected to appear in court on January 9, they mutually agreed to postpone the hearing further.
Court documents revealed that they are currently “engaged in mediation before a private judge,” leading to Keke Palmer being granted a 6-month extension on her domestic violence restraining order against Darius.
The new court date is set for July 16, providing additional time for the legal process to unfold.
As of now, neither party has publicly commented on the latest developments in the case.
