Lesa Milan, star of The Real Housewives of Dubai and founder of the luxury maternity fashion brand Mina Roe, has revealed how Beyoncé became a pivotal figure in her business success.
The iconic singer donned Mina Roe designs during her 2017 baby shower, propelling Milan’s brand into the global spotlight and cementing her status as a trailblazer in the maternity fashion industry.
The Beyoncé Effect
In an interview with Page Six, Milan recounted the life-changing moment when Beyoncé wore the white off-the-shoulder Yasmin maxi dress from Mina Roe at her baby shower.
“My phone started going off like crazy,” Milan shared. “I got messages from my mom and friends, and I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ That’s when people were like, ‘Beyoncé is wearing Mina Roe!’”
The $149 dress quickly became a sensation, with demand surging to the point of crashing Mina Roe’s website.
“I just chalked it up to the Beyoncé effect. It was incredible,” Milan recalled.
The singer has since worn Mina Roe designs on two occasions, further solidifying the brand’s reputation.
From Frustration to Fashion Empire
Milan’s journey to success began with a personal frustration. While pregnant, she struggled to find stylish yet comfortable maternity wear.
This gap in the market inspired her to launch Mina Roe, a brand now favored by celebrities like Serena Williams, Khloé Kardashian, and Gigi Hadid.
On The Real Housewives of Dubai, Milan described the brand as her “fashion empire” and shared her pride in its growth.
“As a Black woman, I feel it’s so important because there are very few of us that are really successful and doing amazing things in this city,” she said.

Breaking into the celebrity market wasn’t easy. Milan strategically approached stylists rather than the stars themselves, a decision that paid off when Beyoncé’s stylist, Ty Hunter, took notice.
