Lupita Nyong’o and Joshua Jackson were seen together at a Janelle Monáe concert in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Oct. 18, sparking rumors about their romantic involvement.
Both actors have undergone shifts in their love lives recently. Nyong’o took to Instagram on Thursday to send a cryptic message about her boyfriend, Selema Masakela while Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith have recently separated.
Photographs shared by TMZ depict the two in close proximity with a group of friends at the concert. While they appeared amicable, there was no clear evidence of romantic involvement.
Jackson, aged 45, made headlines when his wife of over three years, Jodie Turner-Smith, filed for divorce at the beginning of October, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for their separation.
According to a report by People, a source close to the situation revealed that it was Turner-Smith’s decision to end the relationship, as she felt it was time to move on. The source added that they were on divergent life paths, resulting in an unhealthy and unhappy marriage. The couple shares a daughter, Juno Rose Diana Jackson, born in April 2020.
On the other hand, Lupita Nyong’o, aged 40, had been in a public relationship with Selema Masekea.
Their romance became official in December 2022, but Nyong’o’s recent Instagram announcement signals their separation due to issues of trust. Despite the heartbreak, Nyong’o chose to face the pain with courage, acknowledging the capacity for love and the hope that this phase will pass.
“I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception,” she said among other heartfelt sentiments.
Many on social media noticed that Jackson seems to have a “type”: a beautiful Black woman with flawless chocolate skin.
“He doesn’t just love chocolate he loves DARK CHOCOLATE,” a person stated.
