Highly Anticipated Hollywood Star Ceremony for Martha Reeves

Martha Reeves, the legendary voice behind iconic Motown hits like “Dancing in the Street,” “Heat Wave,” and “Nowhere to Run,” will finally receive her long-awaited star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The highly anticipated ceremony is scheduled for March 27, where the Detroit singer will be celebrated by Motown friends and colleagues, including Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, and Mickey Stevenson.

Martha Reeves’ Walk of Fame Star Details

Reeves’ golden star will be installed at 7080 Hollywood Blvd., with the ceremony commencing at 11:30 a.m. Los Angeles time. Angelique Jackson of Variety magazine will emcee the event, and Gordy, Robinson, and Stevenson are slated to speak. A reception will follow at the nearby Hollywood Roosevelt hotel.

“It is fitting that her star will be on the strip where many iconic Motown acts such as the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations and the Miracles have also been honored,” said Anna Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer.

Crowdfunding Campaign and Hometown Celebration for Martha Reeves

Reeves’ Walk of Fame star was secured following a $50,000 crowdfunding campaign that drew international attention and donations in 2023. A hometown reception is planned for April in Detroit, with details to be announced soon.

“My greatest accomplishment in life is my son Eric J. Graham, my gift from God,” Reeves said. “When he was little, we were walking on Hollywood Boulevard sometime in 1975. He looked at me and said, ‘One day you will have your star too, Mamma!’ It has come full circle.”

Reeves’ star will be the 2,776th installed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was founded in 1960.
