Meagan Good Reacts To Skin Bleaching Rumors: ‘Hurts To Think That Someone Would Believe I Don’t Love My Black Skin’

Actor Meagan Good has always been dedicated to her skincare routine. However, fans noticed a change in her complexion over the years, leading to speculation that she was intentionally lightening her skin.

Recently, Good revealed that the change was an accidental result of using unlicensed cosmetic products.

Rumors swirled online suggesting Good was bleaching her skin. During this time, Good’s complexion was indeed becoming lighter, but it was not due to a cosmetic procedure she had chosen.

The change began after she consulted a professional for a leg injury, who then recommended some cosmetic products.

“I used her anti-aging products, and they were phenomenal. So I was like, ‘Oh, she’s the truth.’ After I used her anti-aging product, I did find out that she was unlicensed, but I didn’t think it was a big deal because I’d already used her products and felt good about it,” Good explained in an interview with Where Is The Buzz TV.

The Shazam star continued to use the product on her face, but soon noticed a significant change.

“As I saw myself getting lighter, I started freaking out. I asked her what was going on, and she reassured me that my color would come back. But it didn’t, and I started to panic,” Good recalled.

The rumors of skin bleaching took a toll on Good.

“It broke my heart to think that there are little girls seeing this commentary and thinking it’s true,” she said. “In a time when young Black men and women are being murdered, it hurt to think that someone would believe I don’t love my Black skin.”

Despite the distress, Good realized she couldn’t control the narrative.

“I looked so crazy and had to let people think what they wanted. There was nothing I could do about it,” she told Essence.

Reflecting on the experience, Good said:

“I realized this situation was an answer to a prayer. I needed to stop caring about what others thought about me. Going through this helped me find joy and peace regardless of others’ opinions.”

“This experience freed me, and by the time I went through my divorce, I was okay,” Good concluded.
