Megan Thee Stallion has joined forces with global K-pop sensation TWICE for the title track of their latest mini-album Strategy. While many fans are excited about the pairing, some have expressed confusion, drawing comparisons between Megan’s flow on the song and that of fellow rapper Doja Cat.

The nine-member girl group released the highly anticipated seven-track project on Friday, December 6, alongside the vibrant music video for the title song featuring the “Hot Girl” rapper. This marks Megan’s second collaboration with TWICE, following their successful debut partnership earlier this year.

While the track garnered significant praise for its bold sound and seamless collaboration, it didn’t escape controversy. Some fans accused Megan of borrowing stylistic elements from Doja Cat, sparking debates online. Critics argued that her flow on the track bore similarities to Doja’s signature rap style, raising questions about originality.

In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the group opened up about what makes this connection so special. They explained how Megan’s dynamic persona perfectly aligns with their vibrant style and artistic vision.

“She has a powerful, strong image. We were wondering, would that fit in with our style of music and our image?” Jeongyeon told the magazine. “Once we recorded, we thought we actually fit really well, a lot better than we imagined. I feel like Megan’s style really enhanced our part of the music. When we were shooting the music video, Megan really wanted to learn Korean, so she kept saying like, ‘귀여운,’ which means cute. That ‘you’re very cute’ or ‘that’s really cute.’ She did a lot of Korean-style jokes and those hand hearts that Koreans do a lot to break the ice.”

Despite the initial confusion, fans are buzzing with excitement over this dynamic collaboration, celebrating the exciting fusion of K-pop and American hip-hop. The vibrant and colorful music video showcases the talented members—Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu—striking sultry poses against a lively city backdrop. As they stylishly navigate the countdown to catch the attention of a love interest, the infectious energy of this bouncy pop bop is impossible to resist.
