Megan Thee Stallion continues to receive her roses as TIME magazine has named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world today.
Actress Taraji P. Henson penned thee Stallionâs entry.
âI remember hearing Megan Thee Stallion on one of those famous DJ radio shows a few years ago. She rode the beat like Iâd never heard anybody ride the beat in a long time,â Henson wrote. âAnd Iâm a hip-hop head.
âThere was something about this woman. Once you discover her, you become a fan. I donât like to put the stigma of the word strong on Black women because I think it dehumanizes us, but she has strengthâstrength through vulnerability. Sheâs lost much of her familyâher mother, her father, her grandmotherâyet she is the epitome of tenacity, of pulling herself up by her bootstraps. â
Meg has had a challenging year. Losing two close family members, then being the victim of a domestic violence incident that played out for all of the public, she had not allowed the downtimes to hold her back.
âShe was shot this summer, and still people tried to tear her down. But sheâs out here still loving and being sweet,â Henson continued. âItâs invigorating to see her become a platinum-selling artist with the viral hit âHot Girl Summerâ and multiple No. 1 songs in the past year, âSavageâ and âWAP.â But you would be a fool to think thatâs all there is to her. Sheâs deep. Sheâs enrolled in college. Sheâs an entertainer. Sheâs a free spirit; I see that in her. The industry might try to pigeonhole her in this rap game, but sheâs got a plan thatâs much bigger. And we got her. I just want her to keep winning.â
Our congratulations to Meg!
