Michaela Coel has added another Emmy to her collection, winning the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Coel’s portrayal of Bev, a rival assassin to Donald Glover’s character, John, captivated audiences in the episode titled Infidelity.

Her character complicates John’s mission, leading to unexpected twists and a visit from his partner, Jane, played by Maya Erskine.

Although Coel did not attend the ceremony, she triumphed over a competitive field that included Marcia Gay Harden (The Morning Show), Claire Foy (The Crown), and Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-stars Sarah Paulson and Parker Posey.

This win marks Coel’s second Emmy. In 2021, she took home the award for Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her critically acclaimed HBO series I May Destroy You, which was also nominated in multiple other categories.

Coel is currently working on her next big project, The First Day on Earth, a new HBO series where she stars as a novelist who travels to Ghana, her ancestral home.

The series explores themes of identity, family, and self-discovery as her character reconnects with her estranged father and builds new relationships.
