The American television personality says she’s been told men find her “intimidating”.
In her 60s, Gayle King is finding the dating scene more than challenging.
The star of “CBS This Morning” recently sat down for an interview with The Pivot Podcast, discussing her dating life with hosts Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder, and Fred Taylor.
The 69-year-old opened up about what she seeks in a romantic partner and her experience after loaning a former suitor a large amount of money.
“I went on a date. I was really excited, very excited about it. We’d gone out maybe two months and then he said he really needed to talk to me. He wanted to have a private conversation…[he said,] ‘Do you think you could lend me $4,000?’ I’m like, oh God,” she disclosed.
The veteran broadcaster opened up about other dating stories, including one with a man who pronounced shrimp scampi as “scrimpt scampi.”
Although King loaned the guy the money, the euphoria was gone, and the relationship didn’t last much longer because she “didn’t feel the same” afterward.
She also went into more detail about her dating preferences. The broadcast journalist mentioned proper grammar, intelligence, and a sense of humor. She also added her preferred dating ‘race’.
“I really am attracted to men of color. I just am. I love how a Black man says motherf**er [and] baby. There’s something about the way a Black man says it. I’m just attracted to that. They gotta have something else too, though,” she shared.
King, who shares two children with her ex, Bill Bumpus, a Connecticut assistant attorney general, a daughter, Kirby, and a son, William Jr., is still on the prowl since her divorce in 1993.
