Nicki Minaj recently praised President Donald Trump for highlighting the plight of Christians in Nigeria, which has caught the eye of US officials.
Mike Waltz, the US Ambassador to the United Nations, has directly invited Nicki to the US Embassy to explore how the United States can assist in safeguarding religious freedom globally.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Waltz expressed his gratitude to Nicki for supporting persecuted Christians in Nigeria. He stated, “@NICKIMINAJ, thank you for using your platform to speak out in defense of the Christians being persecuted in Nigeria. We cannot allow this to continue. Every brother and sister of Christ must band together and say, ‘Enough!’ If you ever find yourself in New York, come by the US Embassy to the United Nations. I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”
Nicki was quick to respond, saying, “I’d be honored. Thank you, Ambassador,” indicating her willingness to meet and discuss how her influence can help address the ongoing crisis.
Her engagement follows Trump’s remarks about “the mass killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria by radical extremists.” He mentioned that he had instructed the Defense Department to prepare for potential military action if the Nigerian government didn’t take measures to protect its Christian citizens.
Nicki echoed Trump’s concerns in her own post on X, expressing her deep gratitude for living in a country where worshiping God is a freedom. She stated, “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”
As violence against Christian communities in Northern Nigeria continues, fueled by extremist militias and armed groups, US lawmakers are beginning to call for international intervention. The impact of Nicki’s involvement on this crucial conversation is yet to be determined, but the world is eager to see the USA’s next steps.
