Normani and Cardi B have teamed up to release the new visual for “Wild Side,” which features an iconic Aaliyah sample.
“The world is ready for Normani supremacy!!!!” tweeted Cardi after dropping the cover art for the single. “Kkay sooooo I just watched the video again [Flushed face emoji] sis what the actual f–k.”
Normani is seen strutting her stuff, rocking several trendy fits surrounded by dancers. And as the title suggests… the song pays tribute to her freaky bedroom antics.
“Take me for a ride, boy/ Show me your wild side, boy/ Know it’s been a while, boy/ I wanna get wild,” she sings.
Cardi later raps, “Treat me like a watch/ Bust me down/ On the kitchen floor, right on that towel/It’s my d-ck and I want it now.”
“I had already been in rehearsal for about three weeks preparing the video when Cardi heard the record for the first time,” said Normani in a press release. “She really showed up for me and brought this record to life by simply doing what Cardi does best. I love that woman down and I’m forever grateful.”
The video comes a year after the British songstress appeared in the star-studded music video for Cardi and Megan Thee Stallion’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “WAP.”
During a May interview with W Magazine, Normani revealed what her fans could expect from her next project.
“I naturally gravitate toward eerier, darker sounds. Sound selection is my favorite part of the production process, especially when you get in with a producer who is willing to break barriers,” the “Motivation” singer explained. “We just go in there and play by no rules. I come from a super pop girl group, but I grew up listening to ’90s R&B, which is pretty much what I still listen to every single day. There’s so much space in between, it gives me the opportunity to really play.
