Porsha Williams has filed for divorce just fifteen months after marrying her RHOA co-star Falynn Guobadia’s ex-husband, Simon Guobadia.
According to PEOPLE, the returning “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star submitted the court documents in Atlanta in February 2024.
Their separation comes amid a wave of rumors about Guobadia’s current status of US citizenship. But an insider told the outlet that the reason for their split is an “ongoing matter” that is “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past.”
Who really is Simon Guobadia? Guobadia was born in Nigeria, in Africa, and immigrated to the United States in 1982.
Guobadia founded Simon & Company, now known as Simcol Petroleum Limited Company in 2007, to supply refined fuels in the Southeast United States.
Williams’ soon-to-be ex-husband also spends significant time on the golf course. He has several Instagram photos of himself working on his golf swing on the course and practicing in his backyard and at the golf range.
Simon Guobadia is also a passionate, recognized luxury automobile collector.
In June 2022, Simply Buckhead magazine featured him where he shared more about his current collection, worth upward of $2 million, including three Rolls-Royces, a Phantom, a Cullinan, a Dawn, a Ferrari 812 GTS, a Coachmen Mauck2 custom van, a Mercedes-AMG S63, and a Cadillac Escalade.
Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia started dating in April 2021, and within a month, they announced that they were engaged.
The social couple married twice in Atlanta in November 2022, once in a Nigerian traditional native law and custom ceremony and then again in an American ceremony the next day.
The plush celebration in Atlanta had approximately 350 guests, including Bravolebrities like RHOA‘s Kandi Burruss, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Drew Sidora, Cynthia Bailey, and Monyetta Shaw.
After just one year of marriage, Porsha Williams has filed for divorce from her husband. The filing appears to be private, so it is not immediately clear why Williams made the decision.
Guobadia has been married three times before, the most recent to former Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Falynn Guobadia. The couple married in June 2019 but announced their separation in April 2021.
Falynn and Guobadia divorced in July 2021, just months after Guobadia proposed to Williams.
