Fans of Queen Latifah were briefly alarmed this week after a viral rumor falsely claimed the rapper and actress had died. The entertainment icon quickly stepped in to set the record straight.
Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, posted a short video message on Instagram on Thursday, March 5, directly addressing the circulating death hoax.
“I’m 100% a-ok,” she said while looking directly into the camera. “Can’t believe what you read on the internet or see. Can’t believe nothin’ now, right? I’m good. Peace.”

In the video, Latifah appeared relaxed in an olive-green hoodie, blowing kisses and flashing a peace sign before signing off — reassuring fans that the rumors were unfounded.
The post came after false claims about the entertainer’s death spread widely online, prompting concern among followers. Many fans flooded the comment section with relief and humor once the star confirmed she was safe.
“Did they try to off the QUEEN?!” one commenter wrote, while another added, “They better quit playing with the queen.”
At 55, Latifah remains active in the entertainment industry. She recently concluded a five-season run starring as Robyn McCall in the CBS drama The Equalizer, which wrapped its latest season in May 2025.
The award-winning performer has also continued expanding her work behind the scenes, recently signing a deal with the network Lifetime to executive produce new original movies.
While celebrity death hoaxes periodically circulate on social media, Latifah’s direct response helped quickly put the rumors to rest.
For fans, the message was simple — the Queen is doing just fine.
