Raven-Symoné just revealed a dark chapter of her childhood that’s left fans reeling.

The former Disney star, known for her bubbly personality on That’s So Raven, shocked fans by admitting she feels a sense of relief after her father’s passing. And the reason? She claims he forced her into breast surgery and liposuction at just 15 years old.

During a candid interview with Jason Lee, the actress opened up about the deep scars left by her father’s actions. When Lee asked, “You had a breast reduction and lipo at 15? That’s like, in my mind, psychologically and emotionally abusive.” Raven didn’t hesitate to confirm.

“I had multiple issues from that. I am in EMDR therapy right now, undoing, reworking, and getting ready for what this book would say. I couldn’t until there were a few people that were no longer on this planet.”

Lee, trying to clarify, asked, “You’re speaking about your brother?”

Raven responded bluntly: “No, my father. He was a very interesting, narcissistic, abusive human. So his passing has been freeing and regressing for me.”

Raven-Symoné has long been open about the pressures she faced growing up in the entertainment industry. From being a child star on The Cosby Show to leading her own hit Disney series, she was constantly under scrutiny.

On the December 5 episode of her podcast, Tea Time with Raven & Miranda, co-hosted with her wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday, 37, the 38-year-old former Disney Channel star disclosed that she underwent the first of two breast reduction surgeries based on the advice of adults in her life.

“I went from a triple D all the way down to a B. Someone said I needed to do it in order to get a show,” she recalled, adding that her father also “suggested strongly” that she have the procedure done.

In October 2024, Raven paid tribute to her late father just months after her brother’s death. At the time, she kept her statement vague, but this new revelation paints a much darker picture of their relationship.

As Raven continues her healing journey through therapy and self-reflection, she’s proving that she’s no longer afraid to speak her truth.
