Pastor Rosa Marion, a beloved figure in the Charlotte community known for her unwavering commitment to helping those in need, has passed away at the age of 75.

Marion’s daughter, Yolanda Douthit, confirmed her mother’s death to Channel 9, sharing that Marion’s spirit of resilience continues to inspire those she touched.

“Even in her death, you’re walking in and hearing people say, ‘I’m going on. I’m going to fight on,’” Douthit stated.

She also spoke passionately about the impact Marion had on countless lives throughout her decades of service.

A lifelong Charlotte resident, Pastor Marion dedicated her life to feeding the homeless and supporting the less fortunate, beginning her charitable work in her 20s.

Her commitment did not wane; she continued to serve her community until her passing. Many remember her as a titan of generosity who opened her heart and home to those in need, offering food and support multiple times a week.

In honor of her legacy, the community gathered for a prayer and worship service at Beauty for Ashes Ministry on Oaklawn Avenue, where Pastor Marion served for many years.

Douthit shared heartfelt memories, saying:

“I’m going to miss that. That I had somebody who knew what I needed without me ever saying it. She taught me how to be strong. How to fight. My fighting spirit comes from my mother.”

Just days after Marion’s passing, Beauty for Ashes reopened its doors to continue the mission of feeding the unhoused, a testament to her lasting influence on the ministry.

“I believe she prepared us in her own way. She talked about carrying on the vision and carrying on her legacy,” Douthit explained.

Pastor Rosa Marion leaves behind a remarkable legacy of compassion and empowerment, reminding the community of the power of service and the importance of lifting each other up.
