In honor of International Women’s Day (March 8), Rihanna shared never-before-seen photos from the births of her two sons, RZA Athelston Mayers, 2, and Riot Rose Mayers, 19 months, and true to form, she did it with unmatched flair.
The carousel post on Instagram featured two intimate snapshots. In the first, Rihanna cradles newborn RZA skin-to-skin against their chest, lying in a hospital bed, her face glowing beneath multiple gold and pearl necklaces, including a large, ornate medallion pendant.
The second photo, from Riot Rose’s arrival in 2023, shows the singer rocking bold pink sunglasses as she holds her younger son. Rihanna’s hair is styled in long, dark waves with a small braid near the front. The music star wore a black top or bra, exposing part of her shoulder. Baby Riot Rose, wrapped in a hospital blanket with a striped pattern, is wearing a standard newborn hospital cap and appears to be sleeping or resting with his tiny hand near his face.
“By far the most powerful thing I’ve ever done as a woman…my little miracles! #InternationalWomensDay,” she captioned the post, adding a cheeky nod to her iconic accessories: “And yes, I gave birth in pearls and sunglasses… don’t ask, a lot was happening.”
Since becoming a mom, Rihanna has been open about how much motherhood has changed her. She and her longtime partner, A$AP Rocky, have embraced their new roles as parents, often sharing glimpses of their life with their sons. In previous interviews, Rihanna has described motherhood as a transformative experience, saying it has made her feel more powerful than ever before.
In an interview with British Vogue, Rihanna called motherhood “legendary,” adding, “It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before; that’s the craziest thing ever.”
Rihanna, who hails from Barbados, has been in a relationship with rapper A$AP Rocky, 36, since 2020. After two years of officially being together, the couple shared the news that they were going to have their first child.
In February 2023, during the Super Bowl, Rihanna showcased her baby bump and announced that she was expecting a second child with her partner.
