Tyla and Tems uplifting each other is all the positive energy black queens need to see on the internet today!

Rising South African singer Tyla named Nigerian Grammy-award-winning singer Tems as one of the people who have inspired her musical journey.

The “Water” hitmaker echoed her reverence for Tems during an interview on Kiss Fresh Radio after an earlier submission on TikTok.

In the clip, Tyla named the late American King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Barbadian-American singer, Rihanna, and Tems as her mentors. She named Wizkid, Rema, and Ayra Starr, calling them the most popular Afrobeats artistes in South Africa.

“She’s (Tems) killing the game like globally. Everybody loves her, her music. Me, especially. I’m so excited for her. The things that she is doing for African music. She just becoming a role model for African females. She’s literally from another world. She’s amazing,” Tyla revealed during her interview with Kiss Fresh Radio.

In response, Tems also had a sweet message for the South African Singer while discussing her part in the growth of Afrobeat across continents.

“Man, it’s an honor. I’m very, very 100% sure that she’s inspiring many, many, many, many, many South African babes and girls around the whole world, as well,” Tems said, clearly stunned by the high praise from Tyla.

Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, known in showbiz as Tems, gained recognition in the global music industry after being featured on Wizkid’s 2020 single, “Essence”. After a remix with vocals from Justin Bieber, “Essence” peaked at number 9 on Billboard Hot 100.

Continuing to speak about her influence on the propagation of the African sounds, Tems mentioned how important it was for her to inspire others.

“I think it’s a blessing to inspire someone because not everybody can do that. People could judge, criticize, state an opinion, but not everybody can see someone and grab inspiration,” she said.

Tems is celebrated for her unique style, combining elements of R&B, soul, and Afrobeat.
