Teyana Taylor Shares Recovery After Having Lumps Removed From Her Breasts: ‘It’s Tough’

Teyana Taylor has revealed that she is in recovery after having surgery to remove lumps from her breasts.

The multi-talented star says that cancer runs in her family. The surgery was revealed in a recent episode of her reality television show, “We Got Love Teyana & Iman.”

During the show, Dr. Altman carried out a biopsy on Taylor’s “dense” breast tissue. The results came back normal.

“I just want this to be the last time I go through this,” she shares. “Cancer runs through my family, so it’s a scary thing both for me and Iman.”

Black women face disproportionate exposure to breast carcinogens and are at a higher risk of facing severe health impacts from the disease. The mortality rate for Black women diagnosed with breast cancer is 42% higher than the comparable rate for white women, despite the incident rate being very similar.

Taylor received good medical care, but many Black women are not so fortunate due to massive systematic failures.

Dr. Altman also told Taylor that she should refrain from lifting her children for six weeks.

“It’s tough, I’m definitely overwhelmed because I miss my kids so much, I miss Iman so much,” she said during her confessional.

The surgery meant that Taylor was away from her children for an entire week.

“I think that’s probably the longest I’ve been away from them. My number one priority is to hurry up and get back home, but I know I need to take care of what I need to take care of as well,” she shares.

Still, Taylor recognizes she has much to be thankful for.

“I don’t regret anything. I accept every single body scar, everything that comes with mommy-hood, but the changes physically, mentally, emotionally, it’s crazy. As mommies, we really are super-women,” she explains.

“It’s been a rough year for me, but I feel like I, like, overcome it and I did a great job of balancing everything, trying to be mommy, trying to be wife, trying to be entrepreneur and everything else I have going on. I just want to enjoy this moment and try not to think of the negative.”

“We Got Love Teyana & Iman” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on E!. You can watch the entire first episode above.
