In a touching video shared on social media, Junie showcased her growing knowledge, leaving fans in awe of the young star’s intelligence and charm. Teyana couldn’t hold back her pride, celebrating Junie’s accomplishment with encouragement and admiration.
“My girl bettaaaaaa say ittttttt! In Jesus Nameeeeee AMEN,” the ‘Morning’ hitmaker captioned the video on her IG story.
This moment of joy comes at a time when the Taylor-Shumpert family has been navigating challenging times. After seven years of marriage, Teyana and her estranged husband, former NBA player Iman Shumpert, recently announced their separation.
Teyana Taylor initiated divorce proceedings in January 2023 but delayed nearly nine months before making the couple’s separation public. On Instagram, Taylor reassured her followers that she and Shumpert continue to be “best friends” and are effectively co-parenting their two daughters, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., aged 9, and Rue Rose Shumpert, who is 4.
The “Bare Wit Me” singer and Shumpert made numerous cherished memories with their daughters throughout the years, such as appearing on the cover of Ebony magazine and modeling for Skims’ Cozy Collection.
They have also appeared on television. The family featured in VH1’s Teyana and Iman in 2018, and in E! ‘s We Got Love Teyana & Iman starting in 2021. Before launching their E! series, Taylor shared with Maxim that the show allowed them to capture some of their most treasured family moments.
“My baby, Rue, she took her first crawl on camera. And Junie, her first day back to school,” she said.
Teyana Taylor and Shumpert welcomed their first daughter, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., on December 16, 2015, a month earlier than expected. Her unexpected early birth led to her father being the one to assist in delivering their baby girl.
“On December 16 at 6:42 a.m. in our bathroom, Junie decided she wanted to take her first breath into this world. She came out as a wonderful surprise to everyone!” Taylor announced.
Shumpert uploaded an image of himself with the infant in his own post, captioning it, “Our lovely daughter has arrived and is healthy, just like her wonderful mother.”
Junie, now 9 years old, has become a social media sensation in her own right. Fans have watched her grow up, often stealing the spotlight with her bubbly personality and quick wit. From co-hosting her mother’s events to confidently walking red carpet premieres, Junie’s charisma is undeniable.
