In a recent interview with The Post, the “Girls Trip” star discussed her unique decision with her signature mix of humor and sincerity. “I thought to do that because first, I wanted to have a little party. Second, I also wanted to hold myself accountable for some things,” Tiffany Haddish explained.
“If you’re going to keep any promises in life, the promises you make to yourself are the main ones you need to be keeping. That’s the longest relationship you’re going to have. So, f*ck it, I’m marrying me.”
This memorable moment will be showcased in her upcoming Peacock docuseries, “Tiffany Haddish Goes Off,” set to premiere on November 13. The series features the comedian along with her four childhood friends, Selena Martin, Shermona Long, and Clark, as they embark on a “girls trip” through Zimbabwe and Cape Town, South Africa.
Tiffany Haddish, who has faced her share of public challenges, including two DUI-related arrests in 2022 and 2023, appears to be reclaiming her story on her own terms.
She even joked about how her new “married” status is impacting her dating life: “I’m getting more dates now when I tell [men] I’m married,” she shared with a laugh. “Sometimes I wear my wedding ring, and people are like, ‘Oh my God, where did you get that?’ I’m like, ‘Africa. I’m married!'”
Earlier this year, Haddish faced online criticism after sharing a TikTok video from her trip to Africa, expressing surprise at discovering a grocery store in Zimbabwe.
