How does Tiffany Haddish feel about Common’s relationship with Jennifer Hudson? The actress said this about her ex-boyfriend’s new relationship with the EGOT winner.
After a breakup, it’s not uncommon for people to feel a twinge of jealousy toward their former partners. But in the case of Common and Tiffany Haddish, such feelings seem to be surprisingly absent.
This week, while promoting her new memoir, I Curse You With Joy, on the Making Space With Hoda Kotb podcast, the comedian offered her opinion on her ex’s new relationship.
The 44-year-old then discussed her year-long romance with Common, saying they were enjoyable to be around. As you may remember, Haddish shocked everyone in 2023 when she disclosed that their breakup was not mutual.
“It’s like, you remember when you were a kid, and you’d be on a play date, and y’all like playing, having a good time, and then all of a sudden, y’all like sliding down the slide, and then you turn around and go, ‘Where did they go? Where did they — where’d they go?’ And you see them waving at you and their mama carrying them. And they’re like, ‘Byeee.’ That’s what it was like,” Tiffany spoke about her breakup with Common.
Haddish first met Common, 52, when they co-starred in the 2019 movie The Kitchen, but their relationship was platonic at first.
“It was two years of him chasing me down,” the Haunted Mansion actress told PEOPLE in April. Haddish decided to give it a shot and said, “Okay, let’s do something.” She stated, “That was top of 2020, but we met at the beginning of 2018, 2017.”
Now, Tiffany Haddish says she’s happy for her ex, Common, and his new partner, Jennifer Hudson.
“I love Jennifer,” Haddish told Hoda Kotb. “I hope they’re having fun. Girl, please.”
The Los Angeles native added, “I’ve learned everybody doesn’t have to be in your story. Let them tell it.”
