A woman who “pistol whipped” a man on a Dallas train has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after she caused “serious bodily injury” to a passenger on the vehicle.
Authorities say Kadejah Brown, 29, was on the Red Line train at LBJ Station last Tuesday afternoon when she got into a physical altercation with a man.
A witness captured the fight on cellphone video obtained by FOX 4. The footage purports to show Brown brandishing a gun then hitting the man with it. The man is then seen with blood dripping from his head.
Police then transported the victim to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, Brown has been detained and is currently in the Dallas County Jail on $35,000 bond.
It is unclear whether there was a motive behind the attack.
This year, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has seen a rise in robberies, sexual assaults and aggravated assaults on their trains, according to FOX 4.
“There have been 120 cases so far, this year,” the outlet said. “There were 221 cases throughout all of last year, which was an increase from 171 cases in 2021. It’s adding contract security officers in addition to DART police.”
The news comes just months after another woman was apprehended and charged for shooting a woman in the knee on a Chicago train.
Latrice Harvey, 25, had just boarded the CTA Red Line in the Loop when an argument ensued between her and a 30-year-old female passenger. Moments later, she fired shots on the train as it approached the State and Lake station shortly after midnight. The woman was “seriously injured,” the Chicago Police Department said.
“At that point, everyone was just crammed into one car,” Red Line passenger Carlos Leon told ABC 7 Chicago.
“Red Line trains were rerouted over the Loop and shuttle buses were sent between the Fullerton and State and Lake stations until service resumed,” the news outlet reported.
Harvey was found and arrested near her residence in the 3600 block of West North Avenue shortly after the shooting. She has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm.
