A 43-year-old Florida woman is facing a felony charge after police say she used her car and a can of pepper spray to violently attack another woman she allegedly found with her fiancé outside a Miami hotel.

According to police and surveillance footage obtained by PEOPLE, the incident unfolded just after 7:30 a.m. on June 20 in the parking lot of the Clarion Hotel in Miami Springs.

The footage appears to show a couple walking calmly when they are approached from behind by a speeding vehicle. Moments later, the driver pulls up beside the woman, reaches out, grabs her by the hair, and drives off—dragging the victim behind the moving car.

The driver, identified by police as Katrina Nicole Grant, also allegedly pepper-sprayed the woman during the incident, targeting her face and arm, according to an arrest affidavit from the Miami Springs Police Department.

The victim, whose name is being withheld by police, had just checked out of the hotel when the confrontation occurred.

She told officers that the car pulled up beside her, and before she could react, the driver “lunged out to grab her by the hair” and began to drive off. Once the vehicle stopped, she was allegedly pepper-sprayed “in the face and left side of her arm,” the report states.

Thanks to the hotel’s surveillance footage, police were able to corroborate the victim’s account and obtain the license plate number of the vehicle involved.

Later that day, officers located and stopped Grant. During a search of her vehicle, they reportedly found a pink pepper spray canister inside a black handbag on the passenger side floor.

After being read her Miranda rights, Grant allegedly confessed to the attack, telling investigators she was “tired of her fiancé cheating on her” and allowed her emotions to take control, according to the affidavit filed by Officer Gustavo Miranda.

Grant was arrested and booked on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a serious felony offense under Florida law. She was released on bond two days later and has been ordered to have no contact with the victim while awaiting trial.

The Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, which is representing Grant, entered a plea of not guilty on her behalf. An arraignment is scheduled for July 21.

Neither Grant nor her attorney responded to media requests for comment.
