A young mother and her daughter are starting over after a plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia destroyed their home.

Alexis Lloyd, 29, was preparing dinner last Friday evening when a Learjet crashed just feet away, triggering an explosion that obliterated the first floor of her home on Common Avenue and Ruppert Street.

Lloyd and her daughter miraculously survived, as the seven-year-old was at her grandmother’s house at the time. However, their home is now unlivable, and a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help them recover.

‘Everything Engulfed in Flames’

Lloyd recalled the terrifying moment her home exploded in an emotional interview with Fox 29:

“I was putting trash away, and then my downstairs just blew in—table blew up everywhere. It was just smoke everywhere. I just remember screaming and running out. Everything was engulfed in flames.”

Initially, she thought it was a gas explosion or a bomb, but when she stepped outside, she saw plane debris scattered everywhere.

The Crash That Shook a Neighborhood

The Jan. 31, 2025, crash involved a medical Learjet that went down in a residential area, killing seven people and injuring several others.

Among the deceased were a mother and daughter, while five individuals remain hospitalized, with three in serious condition, according to officials.

A Small Miracle Amid the Devastation

Lloyd believed her new puppy, Princess, was lost in the fire. But in an emotional turn of events, she received a call that firefighters had found her alive.

“That means a lot. It was my daughter’s Christmas gift, her favorite thing outside of school.”

While Lloyd and her daughter escaped the tragedy with their lives, they now face uncertainty and loss.

Community members are rallying behind them, urging donations to help them rebuild after this unimaginable ordeal.
