During GloRilla’s father’s retirement celebration, where he was honored for nearly 30 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service, the Memphis native surprised him with a brand new Jaguar SUV.
The backyard party, which has since gone viral on social media, featured an emotional moment when GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, handed her father the keys as family and friends cheered in delight. Her dad, Edwin C. Woods, appeared both astonished and touched, surrounded by all ten of his children, as guests celebrated his years of dedication and hard work.
This touching display isn’t the first time GloRilla and her father have moved people’s hearts. Earlier this year, during an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show, she became emotional when surprised with a video message from him.
In the heartfelt clip, her father proudly introduced himself, saying, “I’m the father of GloRilla, otherwise known as my baby, Gloria Woods. I am very proud of my daughter. She has risen from humble beginnings to going to the White House.” The video included throwback photos of GloRilla as a teenager and recent images of her visiting the White House and meeting President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, leaving her in tears.
At the end of the video, GloRilla expressed, “I love my dad so much,” her voice shaking as the audience responded with a collective “aww.”
Now, just a few months later, GloRilla is reciprocating that love with a luxury vehicle suited for a man who has devoted three decades to his community.
