Nicki Minaj found herself trending after the White House’s official TikTok account used a creative remix of her 2012 song “Beez in the Trap” blended with 4 Non Blondes’ classic “What’s Up?” This mashup had already gained massive popularity on social media, amassing hundreds of thousands of videos and millions of views.

However, things really took off when Nicki decided to join the conversation.

In an unusual show of gratitude, she commented on the video: “This is pretty incredible. Thank you.” Shortly thereafter, she shared the clip herself, expressing even more enthusiasm with the caption, “The President & First Lady of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” She humorously suggested that the person who uploaded the video should be awarded “unlimited backstage Gag City for life.”

Fans, known as the Barbz, were overjoyed. However, as is typical on the internet, not everyone was warm to Nicki’s response. Some critics raised concerns about her seemingly favorable view of a White House post, particularly since it followed her recent endorsement of Donald Trump, where she commended him for defending persecuted Christians in Nigeria. This quickly sparked an online political firestorm, igniting debates among fans about Nicki’s political stance.

Despite the backlash, Nicki stood her ground, reaffirming her appreciation with her usual self-assured demeanor. She remains unfazed by the surrounding noise. This isn’t the first time she has navigated the complex waters of pop culture and politics, and given Nicki’s track record, it’s unlikely to be the last.
