Erica Banks, whose full name is Erica Scharmane Breaux, was arrested in DeKalb County, Georgia, after a traffic stop on Buford Highway reportedly took a serious turn.

According to local sources, she’s facing a felony charge of possessing ecstasy with the intent to distribute, which is a significant offense under Georgia law.

The incident occurred on December 8, when officers pulled Banks over during a routine check. During this stop, they allegedly found the controlled substance, leading to her arrest. She was booked into the DeKalb County Jail around 3 p.m., with various outlets, including CBS News Atlanta, confirming these details.

Fans of hip-hop and reality TV were hit hard by this news. Banks, who proudly represents Texas, rose to fame with her viral hit “Buss It,” which became a staple on social media and in clubs. More recently, she gained even more visibility as part of the cast on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.

However, this isn’t the first time Banks has found herself in hot water. Back in August, she was arrested at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when TSA agents discovered a stolen firearm in her luggage. Although her attorney claimed she did not know that the gun was stolen, she was charged with theft by receiving stolen property. That situation still lingers in fans’ minds, making this new arrest even more concerning.

At present, it appears Banks could be eligible for early release as early as December 9, but there hasn’t been any official confirmation yet. Neither she nor her legal team has commented publicly on this latest arrest or the charges.

Reactions on social media have been mixed.
