Jasmine Crockett Thanks Texas Voters After Democratic Senate Primary: ‘Work Still Needs to Be Done’

by Gee NY

U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett addressed supporters following the Texas Democratic Senate primary, thanking voters while acknowledging disappointment and confusion surrounding the race.

Speaking in a message to supporters, Crockett expressed appreciation to voters who backed her campaign, particularly in Dallas County, while admitting she remained “heartbroken” over the outcome and the events surrounding the primary.

Crockett lost the senate primary held on March 3 to James Talarico in a contest that was marked by later-stage voting controversies.

“Words can’t express how excited you made me as I was out on the trail, working to stretch people’s imaginations,” Crockett said.

A Message of Gratitude and Reflection

Crockett, who built a national profile as a progressive voice in Congress, said the campaign energized supporters but also highlighted challenges within the Democratic Party.

“It’s clear that we still have a lot of work to do, even within our party, about making sure that we invest in kind of just doing the right thing sometimes,” she told supporters.

Despite the disappointment, Crockett struck a tone of gratitude toward the voters who mobilized during the campaign.

“I just wanted to say thank you specifically to the people of Dallas County. I love you so very much,” she said.

Confusion and Frustration After the Vote

Crockett also referenced widespread confusion reported by voters following the primary.

“I woke up still heartbroken about everything that took place,” she said, adding that she had received numerous emails and phone calls from supporters seeking answers.

While she did not specify the exact source of the confusion, the comments suggest lingering concerns among voters about the primary process or results.

Looking Ahead to the General Election

Even as she addressed supporters, Crockett made clear that her focus remains on defeating Republican candidates in the upcoming Senate race.

Referencing possible Republican nominees, Crockett said either option would represent a challenge for Democrats.

“No matter what, whether it’s Kim Paxton or John Cornyn, anyone would be better,” she said.

John Cornyn, a Republican who has served in the Senate since 2002, is among the prominent figures connected to the race.

Broader Political Stakes in Texas

The Texas Senate contest is expected to be closely watched nationally as Democrats attempt to expand their influence in a state long dominated by Republicans.

Crockett’s campaign drew attention for its progressive messaging and strong grassroots engagement, particularly in urban areas like Dallas.

Her post-primary remarks indicate that while the campaign may be over, she and her supporters are likely to remain active in the broader fight for Democratic victories in Texas.

For many voters who rallied behind her campaign, Crockett’s message underscored both disappointment and determination.

“We still have a lot of work to do,” she said.
