An unexpected confrontation involving Teyana Taylor erupted at the 2026 Academy Awards after the actress accused a man of putting his hands on her during post-ceremony celebrations at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Teyana, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film One Battle After Another, was seen confronting a man on the red carpet shortly after the ceremony wrapped. Video of the moment, which later circulated widely on the social media platform X, shows the singer and actor visibly upset as she accused the man of shoving her and “putting hands on a female.”
The tense exchange reportedly happened as guests and nominees were leaving the theater following the awards show. According to reports from TMZ, Teyana had been trying to return to the stage to join her castmates from One Battle After Another for a celebratory photo after the film’s major night at the Oscars.
The movie was one of the biggest winners of the evening, taking home six awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. As attendees moved through the crowd, Teyana attempted to head backstage to take part in the post-win celebrations with the film’s team.
During that moment, she accused a man of physically blocking her path. Witnesses say the man, believed to be part of security, used his body to stop Teyana and placed his hands on her in an effort to keep her from going up the stairs that led back to the stage.
Footage from the incident captured Teyana confronting the man while expressing her frustration. “You do not put your hands on a female. That’s very rude,” she said, adding, “You don’t put your hands on a female… He literally shoved me.”
Reports indicate that Teyana had been trying to return to the stage alongside Pam Abdy, co-head of Warner Bros., when a security guard intervened and attempted to prevent them from passing.
The confrontation came at the end of a significant night for Teyana Taylor professionally. The multi-hyphenate performer was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in One Battle After Another, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, who was nominated for Best Actor.
Teyana ultimately did not take home the trophy. The award went to Amy Madigan, 75, for her performance as Gladys in Weapons. The category also included nominees Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners, as well as Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Elle Fanning for their performances in Sentimental Value.
Despite the awards outcome, the moment involving Teyana quickly became one of the most talked-about incidents following the ceremony, with clips of the confrontation spreading across social media shortly after the event concluded.
