Aaron Rose Philip has redefined the fashion industry, breaking boundaries as the first Black, trans, and disabled model signed by a major agency.
Since her debut at age 17, she has transformed the industry by being the first to model for luxury labels like Moschino and Collina Strada on the runway in a wheelchair.
Using her visibility, Aaron Rose is a dedicated advocate for issues affecting disabled and Black trans communities, sharing her insights through impactful talks like her recent TED Talk, where she discussed systemic inequities in fashion.
Her achievements were celebrated on October 24 at Cosmo’s inaugural 2024 Club Cosmo Awards in partnership with UTA Next Gen and ZCON.
At the event, held at Domino’s Refinery Rooftop in Brooklyn, Aaron Rose was one of ten honorees in Club Cosmo’s first class of trailblazers, which also recognized Gen Z leaders like Chi Ossé, Avantika, and Chloe Troast.
In a powerful moment during the ceremony, LGBTQ+ icon Dominique Jackson of Pose fame presented Aaron Rose with her award, calling attention to the positive changes she’s inspired.
“My existence itself is often considered as a new idea within many different contexts and spaces, which makes me innately very special,” Aaron Rose told Cosmopolitan, reflecting on the significance of her role in the industry.
With each accolade, Aaron Rose continues to inspire, paving the way for inclusivity and representation across fashion and beyond. Her story underscores the impact one voice can have on reshaping industry standards, making her a true icon for inclusivity and change.
