‘Bachelorette’ Star Rachel Lindsay Covers Majority of Bills For Estranged Husband Amid Divorce

Reality star and podcast host Rachel Lindsay is facing significant financial challenges as she navigates her divorce from estranged husband Bryan Abasolo.

The couple’s separation process, which began when Abasolo filed for divorce on New Year’s Day, has revealed Lindsay’s substantial financial contributions to their shared expenses.

Lindsay and Abasolo met and got engaged during Lindsay’s season on “The Bachelorette” in 2017.

After living in separate cities—Lindsay in Dallas and Abasolo in Miami—they married in 2019. The following year, Abasolo moved to California to support Lindsay’s burgeoning career as a media personality and correspondent for “Extra.”

Despite their split, the couple remains under the same roof in Los Angeles due to Abasolo’s limited financial resources. Court documents indicate that Abasolo is seeking spousal support to maintain his standard of living.

He has requested $75,000 in emergency financial assistance to cover his legal fees, citing Lindsay’s use of community property funds for her own divorce expenses while denying him access to those resources.

The couple’s $2.1 million home, purchased in March 2022, features luxurious amenities such as an indoor gym and pool. Abasolo claims his current income from his work at the Beverly Hills Disc & Laser Therapy Center is only $1,700 a month, forcing Lindsay to cover the majority of their living expenses.

His assets include $781,000 in property, a $1,000 wedding band, and $51,000 in investment accounts.

“Our current living situation is very awkward and strained. We generally do not even talk to each other and try to avoid each other,” Abasolo stated in his filing, according to reports.

He also mentioned feeling monitored by Lindsay through a security system to which only she has access.

Abasolo has expressed a desire to move out but claims that maintaining his current standard of living is not feasible. He noted that his chiropractic career suffered due to their relocations for Lindsay’s career, while her success as a media personality flourished.

In her response, Lindsay stated she wishes to resolve the matter privately and is working towards a global settlement. She noted that Abasolo continues to live in her home, for which she pays 90% of the expenses.

Lindsay has requested that her income details be sealed for her safety.

Abasolo announced the divorce on Instagram, stating:

“After more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew.”

He disclosed that the decision was made out of love and respect for each other, hoping to prevent public speculation.

Lindsay briefly mentioned the split on an episode of the “Higher Learning” podcast, co-hosted by Van Lathan, stating she was taking things “day by day.”

The couple’s divorce comes after Lindsay faced criticism for choosing a non-Black suitor on “The Bachelorette.”

Lindsay had made it clear that her choice was based on personal preference rather than public expectation.
