Allegations have surfaced involving Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, with a lawsuit claiming the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl during a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.
A revised civil lawsuit submitted on Sunday claims that Jay-Z, whose actual name is Shawn Carter, along with Combs, sexually assaulted the girl at an afterparty after the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000.
“Another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor. Many others were present at the afterparty but did nothing to stop the assault. Carter has been with Combs during many such instances described herein. Both perpetrators must face justice,” the complaint reads.
U.S. news sources, particularly NBC, have reported on the civil lawsuit that was originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York, where Jay-Z was initially referred to as an unnamed “Celebrity A.”
The anonymous complainant, known only as Jane Doe, claims she was attacked by Carter and Combs after being taken to a private home where an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards was hosted in New York City.
In a public letter uploaded on the official Instagram Roc Nation account, Jay-Z denied the claims and accused the lawyer of bringing the case of being a “deplorable human.”
The 55-year-old music executive strongly rejected the allegations, labeling them “appalling” and “absurd.” He criticized the lawsuit and claimed that Buzbee, the plaintiff’s lawyer, was trying to extract money from him under the pretense of a legal claim.
“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No, sir. It had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are.
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
Beyoncé has yet to react to the claims against her husband. Diddy is currently in jail, facing charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
