Brittany Renner unveiled her post-Islamic transformation, removing her hijab for the first time in over a year, just days after finalizing her whirlwind divorce from rapper Kevin Gates.
Brittany Renner is no stranger to public reinvention, but her latest move has the internet buzzing louder than ever.
Just ten days after announcing her divorce from rapper Kevin Gates, Brittany posted a bold new video to social media, showing herself without a hijab for the first time in over a year. And the background audio is GloRilla’s hit anthem, “Let Her Cook.”
In the short clip, text overlays read:
“I wore cornrows underneath my hijab just so my hair could fit in it.”
“I’m not interested in shrinking myself to fit in anywhere.”
If there was any doubt about where Brittany stands, her caption sealed it:
“I don’t have blind loyalty to any person, place, or thing. I also don’t need excuses to do what I want to do because I accept whatever comes behind my decisions. It’s still Alhamdulillah for everything. Hope this helps .”
The post quickly went viral. Some fans praised her authenticity, while others questioned her commitment.
Let’s rewind. Brittany converted to Islam in August 2024, during what she described as one of the most unstable seasons of her life. In a September video, she admitted, “My world has completely crumbled… I have no idea where I’m going to live or how I’m going to provide for my son.”
Still, she remained hopeful, saying, “Allah has moved mountains for me, and I trust that this will be no different.”
Then came her surprise marriage to Kevin Gates, a rapper, entrepreneur, and practicing Muslim. The pair tied the knot on April 6, 2025, and the union lasted just 52 days. Renner later revealed the details during a candid interview with Real 92.3 LA.
“We got married April 6 and divorced May 28,” she said.
However, under Islamic law, a 90-day waiting period was required. “It’s to see if you’re pregnant, he would be responsible,” she explained. “And also, it’s for reconciliation. Because Allah wants you to stay married. During those 90 days, you are not to entertain anybody romantically.”
The whirlwind marriage started with a smile and a sparkling ring at the Basketball Wives Season 12 premiere, where Brittany gushed about her new husband.
