This weekend in Milwaukee, powerhouse rappers Cardi B and GloRilla joined Vice President Kamala Harris at a star-powered campaign concert and rally in Milwaukee to try and mobilize voters to the polls.
Initially, Cardi B wasn’t going to vote, but she showed up at Vice President Kamala Harris’ “When We Vote We Win” rally on Friday with a message for Wisconsin voters.
Ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, November 5, the Grammy-winning rapper delivered a fiery speech lasting nearly 10 minutes, complete with stinging soundbites and her signature.
The “WAP” hitmaker referred to Donald Trump as a “hustler” who would never truly support women’s rights, and she stated that she did not plan to vote until Harris entered the race.
However, Cardi B briefly choked up after appearing in a Jackie Kennedy-style power suit and admitted to being nervous.
Cardi B effortlessly regained her confidence as she read from a speech she’d crafted on her phone. With each sip of water she took, her voice grew stronger, and the energy in the room surged. It was a powerful moment that showcased her resilience and charisma, captivating everyone who had the privilege to listen.
“Are we ready to make history,” she called out to cheers.
“I do not take lightly the call to show up, the call to speak up, the call to deliver a message that has been on my heart for a hot minute now…” she said.
Cardi B continued, “Just like Kamala Harris, I, too, have been the underdog. I’ve been underestimated. My success was belittled and discredited. Women have to work 10 times harder, perform 10 times better, and still, people question us how we got to the top.”
She also praised Harris’ economic plan against price gouging and her proposal for down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers, adding, “[Harris] is promising a lot… and I believe her…”
As for Big Glo, she had things shakin’ at Harris’ rally. The rapper performed a six-minute set of some of her hits, including ‘TGIF’ and ‘Hollon.’ GloRilla dressed in a sparkly black top, camouflage pants, and a Chanel cap for the occasion.
Toward the end, she encouraged the audience to vote, adding a political message to her performance.
The reaction to GloRilla’s appearance was divided. Many on social media praised the energy, while others questioned whether a political rally was the appropriate setting for a concert.
Other musical acts performing alongside Cardi B and GloRilla include The Isley Brothers, Flo Milli, MC Lyte, and DJ Gemini Gilly.
