Political commentator and podcast host Danielle Moodie is calling out what she sees as a deliberate assault on America’s economy.
She is warning Americans that the chaos unfolding in the markets isn’t just mismanagement—it’s a strategic power grab by the wealthy elite.
Moodie, the outspoken host of The Danielle Moodie Show on YouTube and co-host of the podcasts #TheNewAbnormal and democracyish, took to Instagram on April 4 to deliver a searing commentary on what she described as a “manmade economic catastrophe” under former President Donald Trump’s hypothetical return to office.
“Everything Trump and company are doing to the economy is on purpose! Oligarchy has a strategy. The question is, do the rest of us?!” she quizzed.
In her accompanying video, Moodie painted a stark picture: a 1,600-point plunge in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, mounting job losses, and what she described as a deliberate dismantling of financial stability for working Americans.
“It’s Not Just a Recession. It’s a F**king Depression.”
Moodie didn’t mince words when addressing the consequences of the reported market drop and escalating unemployment—what she claims is part of a calculated effort to destabilize retirement systems like 401(k)s and pensions, pushing people out of retirement and back into an unstable job market.
“What happens when you lose that retirement, when you lose that stability? You’re forced back into the workplace,” she said.
“This is not accidental. This is all part of a plan.”
She linked the economic freefall to the rise of corporate oligarchy, warning that a collapse in wages, jobs, and union protections would only benefit the ultra-wealthy, who can seize assets and labor at bargain prices during widespread financial hardship.
Moodie also cited early job data—275,000 jobs lost—and referenced Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, claiming his warning on tariffs leading to economic disaster further proves the deliberate sabotage unfolding.
A Crisis of Power—and Accountability
In her remarks, Moodie expressed frustration that previous warnings from women leaders—including Hillary Clinton and Vice President Kamala Harris—went ignored.
“Americans don’t listen to women—and they really don’t like listening to women of color,” she said. “So we’re here.”
Calling for collective action, she urged viewers and listeners not to dismiss what’s happening as mere incompetence:
“People think Trump is stupid—and he is—but this destruction is intentional. Oligarchs know exactly what they’re doing.”
A Voice for Urgency
Moodie, known for her sharp, unapologetic takes, has built a loyal following across digital platforms. The Danielle Moodie Show, airing Monday through Thursday at 5 p.m. EST on YouTube, continues to tackle urgent political topics, often with a progressive and intersectional lens.
Her commentary has struck a chord among those worried not only about the economy, but about democracy itself.
As Moodie concluded in her post:
“The only thing that is going to get us out is collective action.”
