DDG is backing up his ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey after she criticized him for letting their 11-month-old son, Halo, appear on Kai Cenat’s livestream without her consent.
Halle Bailey was backlash after saying she was “extremely upset” that DDG took the baby on the stream.
The Little Mermaid actress told fans in a now-deleted tweet that she had not authorized her child’s participation in the stream and had no idea it would happen. She followed up with another tweet, revealing she was struggling with “severe postpartum” before eventually deactivating her account.
Bailey later apologized for her outburst, stating that she is confident in Halo’s safety with DDG but is uncomfortable learning about her son’s activities in public. “I know Halo is always safe with his dad,” she wrote, thanking Cenat for his gifts for Halo but reiterating her request for prior notification.
In response to the brouhaha, DDG used his own platform to address fans and critics, pleading for understanding and respect for Bailey, who he believes may be dealing with the mental and emotional challenges of new motherhood.
In a YouTube video published on Thursday, November 7, DDG explained that he won’t allow anyone to bully Halle, having had his fair share of it in the past.
DDG stated that, while he can withstand the “cyberbullying” he has faced for several years and has developed a thick skin, he cannot tolerate fans hating on Halle Bailey.
“One thing I don’t like what people do is I don’t like when people hate on Halle,” DDG began his video. “I don’t care if people think she wrong or not, or if I think she wrong or right.”
“She could be going through something mentally after having a kid that I can’t understand as a man. So when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her. You know, I need her. We need each other to create a childhood that’s safe, fun, and memorable for him.”
“We’ve only been parents for 10 months. Now, we are going through like a little breakup, whatever, you know I’m saying like yeah I gotta understand we are going through something, you know, that’s a little, you know, it’s hard for us,” DDG added.
