‘I Am Still Here’: Woman Shot Twice And Stabbed 37 Times By Ex-Boyfriend But Still Survived

by Gee NY

A Columbus woman is speaking out for the first time after surviving a brutal ambush in which she was shot twice and stabbed 37 times by her ex-boyfriend, Philetto Daniel, in what authorities have called a premeditated attack.

According to Columbus police, the assault occurred on Jan. 17, 2025, at the victim’s, Laticia Walton’s apartment in Sugar Mill Apartments.

Authorities say Daniel, 50, broke into her home, shot her in the face and back, and stabbed her multiple times before attempting to take his own life.

Police discovered Daniel with zip ties around his neck and evidence suggesting he had ingested antifreeze. Investigators later confirmed that these injuries were self-inflicted.

“There is clear evidence that he meticulously planned this attack,” said Sgt. Sherman Hayes.

He revealed that Daniel had purchased zip ties, antifreeze, and the knife used in the attack from various stores in Columbus before arriving at the apartment.

Daniel appeared in Columbus Recorder’s Court on Monday, where his case was bound over to Superior Court.

Despite her horrific injuries, the victim is now recovering and recently took to social media to share her miraculous survival story.

“If this video doesn’t send any message other than to let you know—I am still here, which means there is a God,” she said in an emotional TikTok video. “My doctors tell me I am a walking miracle.”

She expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and prayers she has received saying:

“I go through a lot dealing with the incident, but thank you all. I am still here.”

A GoFundMe has been launched to help with her long road to recovery, which includes extensive treatment for injuries to her hands and other medical complications.
