Veteran actress and singer Jenifer Lewis, known for her powerful voice on and off the screen, has taken another stand, using her musical talents to encourage black celebrities to vote.
Earlier in April, beloved actress Jenifer Lewis warned Americans that not voting could result in Donald Trump being re-elected.
During an interview on SiriusXM’s “Mornings With Zerlina” on April 5, the “Black-ish” star also compared the twice-impeached ex-president to Adolf Hitler, Germany’s former Chancellor.
She also claimed that if Trump is elected president again, Black people will be placed “in camps” due to a lack of voting.
Lewis released the song on her Instagram, and it features stars such as Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Keke Palmer, Serena Williams, Rihanna, and Zendaya. Lewis delivers a clear and urgent message using her trademark blend of humor and intensity: it’s time to get serious about the upcoming election.
In the opening lines, Lewis calls out her celebrity peers by name: “Nicki, Jay Z, Keke, this auntie… Serena, Rihana, Zendaya, this auntie.” She then pleads with them to help her spread the word about the importance of voting. “I need y’all to help me spread my quote. I need you to help me get these kids out to vote.
But Lewis doesn’t stop there. She drives home the gravity of the situation with a blunt declaration: “Why? Cause this election ain’t no joke. We gotta take this b*tch by the throat. So get your a$$ out and vote. Get your a$$ out and vote. Y’all know how I do it. Cmon y’all. Vote!”
