Former Vice President Kamala Harris praised Susan Crawford’s decisive victory in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race, calling it “a victory for working people in Wisconsin.”

Crawford, a liberal candidate, secured a commanding 10-point win over conservative Brad Schimel, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. The race, closely watched nationwide, shattered spending records and became a flashpoint for political influence.

Harris, who lost to Trump in last year’s presidential election—including in Wisconsin—struck an optimistic tone following Tuesday’s results, thanking Wisconsin voters for their dedication.

“Together, with leaders all across our nation, we will continue to push for progress,” Harris stated in an Instagram post, accompanied by a video expressing her gratitude.

Despite the setback, Trump remained silent on Schimel’s defeat, instead highlighting the passage of a Republican-backed voter ID referendum in Wisconsin. On his platform, Truth Social, he referred to the measure as “maybe the biggest win” of the night.

Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual and a close Trump ally, played a pivotal role in the race, pouring more than $20 million into Schimel’s campaign and orchestrating multimillion-dollar giveaways in the election’s final days. However, following Schimel’s loss, Musk downplayed the outcome, stating that he had “expected to lose” while shifting focus to the voter ID referendum.

Harris directly called out Musk in her video, echoing sentiments shared by Senator Bernie Sanders on social media.

“There is an unelected billionaire who should not and will not have a greater voice than the working people of Wisconsin,” Harris declared.

Crawford’s victory preserves the liberal bloc’s 4-3 majority on Wisconsin’s highest court. This marks the second consecutive election in which a liberal candidate triumphed over a conservative, following Janet Protasiewicz’s 11-point win over Dan Kelly in 2023—an election that gave liberals control of the court for the first time in 15 years.

“She will take her seat on the bench and continue to uphold the rights and protect the freedoms of all people in her state,” Harris wrote.

In her video, Harris emphasized that Crawford would “advocate for fair wages and safe working conditions” and defend personal freedoms, including the right to make personal healthcare decisions free from government interference.
