In a remarkable feat of academic excellence, 16-year-old Shania Mohammad from Oklahoma City has achieved three college degrees and secured a full-time teaching position, making her the youngest paid teacher in the United States.
Shania, a Black teenager, recently made headlines after landing a job as a third-grade teacher at a local school in her hometown.
Her journey to this groundbreaking achievement began at the age of 14 when she earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood development. Additionally, she obtained two associate degrees from Oklahoma City Community College and Langston University.
Not content with just academic accolades, Shania also completed two years of National Teachers Professional Development Training through the Thurgood Marshall Foundation, further enhancing her teaching skills and expertise.
Her father, Elijah Muhammad, expressed immense pride in his daughter’s accomplishments, highlighting her courage and determination to pursue her dreams despite any obstacles.
In a Facebook post last year, he commended Shania for her boldness and unwavering commitment to her passions.
In a recent interview, Shania’s parents revealed that while they provided a supportive environment for her education, they never anticipated her achievements would reach such extraordinary heights.
Their focus was on laying a strong educational foundation, recognizing its power to propel their children toward greater opportunities.
Despite her remarkable achievements, Shania shows no signs of slowing down. Alongside her teaching career, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Business Administration, aiming to become the youngest Black graduate student in the country.
