A viral TikTok video has ignited a fierce online debate after a young woman shared a heated exchange with her mother, who told her to move out of the house because she is dating another woman.
The clip, posted by @mouth_party, captures a generational and cultural clash that many viewers say reflects deep-rooted issues within families grappling with acceptance, identity, and tradition.
In the video, the mother firmly tells her daughter, “You got my blood running through you and your daddy’s blood. How you gonna have with somebody else’s child out here?”
When the daughter pushes back, stating that she is finally in a relationship where she feels loved and respected, her mother is unmoved.
“So I’m supposed to be with somebody that I don’t love so you could be happy?” the daughter asks.
“You damn right,” the mother replies bluntly. “If you don’t get you a man to come up in here and create me a baby, you won’t get to step in.”
The daughter, visibly hurt, turns to the camera to address her followers, saying:
“She wants to kick me out of her house.”
The mother, whose face was not shown throughout the exchange, insists on “old school” values, saying that in her home, only heterosexual relationships are considered “decent,” explaining that “a man and a woman procreate and they have babies. Not a woman and a woman.”
Despite the daughter’s plea—that her girlfriend is the best partner she’s ever had—the mother remains steadfast, arguing that her daughter hasn’t even given men a “chance” and that love is something you “grow into.”
The most poignant moment may come when the daughter asks, “Are you happy?” to which her mother responds,
“I’m wonderfully happy. Me and your dad have been married for 23 years.”

Others, however, found the mother’s stance heartbreaking and outdated.
“These same parents will be so confused why their adult kids leave and go no contact,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Parents that act like this don’t deserve kids. Glad my mom wasn’t like this.”
